I recently did a test of one of the toe up socks shown in knitty, the short row toe. I am happy to say that it is at least as easy as it looks. I did my test run with a worsted and size nine needles. So, I have started a set of toe up socks. They can't possibly be more difficult than cuff down. For me the "crunchy" part of knitting a sock is the picking up of stitches after the heel. The instep gusset? I'v managed more than 6 pairs of that kind. And since I really loved short row heels when I tried them I expect to like the toes as much. I wonder if anyone hax ever explained why you would use one sock method versus another?
